Bro have you looled at those Del Cielo congas, those Tocas have to be OAK and it seems tha gravitation is towards more exotic and lighter woods. Personally I want some red cedar congas, is light and it sounds sweet; that's what thee batas are made of.

Sadly we do not see Del Cielo congas in Australia.. Well at least not in any of the stores which I frequent..

Going out next week if I have some time, found a TOCA distributor, going to take them for a test drive and als o see what the $$$ damage is...
They look hot. Hopefully their quality is just as good if not better than their look.

Abakua, are they the new Limited Edition? Look snice.
I had the model below that , they had about 3 pro models back in '98. The Limited Edition seemed nice. But the hardward was just hmm, lacking? Maybe due to buffalo skin, but you really needed to crank them(especially quinto), so by the time a couple months pass, the lugs are not in good refernce(angle) to the shell. That did not seem like a good "pro-long use" tumbadora. If they have 5 lugs per shell, it may be OK, however. Toca's better ones are with 5 lugs-even quinto.
But in general they have a nice open tone, crispy. They do have the typical Thailand sound-ringy. Might be good for modern stuff(band), might not work for forklorico etc. They do not cut as much as LP's however.
Please do note that this is only my opinion based on around the '98 mfg'd stuff.
Micheal Peter (E) uses the models, that are small 10" quinto for a nice snappy open tone. Somewhat like a requinto. but more hand" room"-reminded me of the ol' Gon Bops fee but lacks the body of the tones.
But as I say , its just must opinion, so check em out and let us know what you think. Don't be fooled by the looks!!

forgot to add, the gauge steel they use is pretty small. look closer to the angle of those lugs, it wrong. The bracket starts to move upward during extreme cranking, which should not happen in this age. Not sure if teh hardware can take using cowhid etc.

It's good to hear you guys talking about this line of conga's by toca. I should be buying some new conga's in the next few weeks. I'm looking at the toca's LE line c/o the price & product compare to what else is out their. Midwest Percussion in the states is selling the LE line for 300/326/353 with free shipping but 20 each for insurance price. And 216 for the matching bongo's with, these prices are rounded up to the next dollar.
I did not think their where very many people on this forum that like toca's higher end stuff. Abakua keep us up to date if you get your hands on the newer LE's.

Abakua, that is a nice set, get them... they look sweet. With a nice set of natural heads; bet they sound the bomb. I actually was going to invest on a set of Tocas, before LP gave a me a nice company deal oherwise, Tocas would of had been. I just feel that they were very similar in construction and for less cash. I currently have a red Toca quinto, which I am getting rid of, sticking with my Gon Bop quinto.
