I have a set of the LP Performer Series Congas (Quinto, Conga, and Tumba) and matching Bongos. The heads are the standard 11",11 3/4", and 12 1/2" and bongos are 6 3/4" and 8". I would like to put Remo Nuskyns on them but have heard that they may not fit. The drums have the EZ curve rims.

Does anyone know if they'll fit or have any experience with these drums.

They seem to be pretty well made, finished nice, and sound pretty good. The heads that came with them are kinda on the thin side and I get alot of overtones.

I find it interesting that Musicians Friend sells a few of these and yet LP and Remo seem to fail to respond to (or ignore) any inquiries. What's up with that?

I mean, I know that these aren't the best out there, but for beginners interested in learning and playing on a set of 3 full size drums, they aren't bad. Much nicer than the Aspires or some of the other entry level drums, and with a much better price point!

Hi G-Man!
Haven't played the performer series yet, so can't give an advice on them.
But if you don't like the overtones of your thin skins, then maybe the nuskins aren't that what you're looking for.
I have some Nuskins on the Bongos and Evans on the Congas, because I like the sound and play often with an big setup, so its much easier 'cause I don't have to care much about tuning.
But if you are looking for less overtones then I would try to fix them with some "gaffa tape" (don't know how you would call it) at the inside of the skin,or buy some thicker "real" skins.

Hey G-Man!
LP sent me a set of these and I think that the quality is very good for the low price they charge. Yes the stock heads are a bit thin, but Richard Simons at LP says that's for the 101 crowd, easier to get a sound out of, easier on the hands. Remo NuSkyns will fit on them, or you call our friend Issac at Funky Tradition and upgrade to some thicker cowhide or even mules.
