Haven't been able to find this info anywhere. Does anyone know? If not, would someone do me a big favour and put a Patato conga or tumba on their bathroom scale?

Thanks in advance!

Alafia Abure Troels!
I hope that you are well!

Okay, I placed a Patato Tumbadora 12 1/2" on the scale and it weighed 30 lbs. the conga is just a bit lighter than that.

Hope this helps!

Suave!

I have a set. I'd say each conga is roughly 40 pounds. The large tumba is 45-50.

I remembered I measured them for weight to send them through Parcel mail through the U.S Postal service.

They're heavier than wood congas.

Who to believe here? :;): 10 pounds difference?

I am about to buy a set of Patatos (loooove the sound of them for fiber congas) I was just curious whether they are actually heavier than my wood congas.

When it comes to fiber congas - I say the heavier they are the better they sound! (but not too heavy of course - must think of the old back)

Potatoes can be quite heavy if they're twice baked and loaded with sour cream, chives, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Dieters might prefer a simple baked spud with minimal butter. However, real congueros always eat plantains!!

WHEN YOU BUY A PROFESIONAL CONGA THATS WHAT IT IS A HEAVY DUTY INSTRUMENT U DONT WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY IN SOMETHING THAT DOES'T WEIGHT UN CARAJO .IF PATATOS ARE HEAVY ITS BECAUSE THEY R GOOD.FRIED PLANTAINS WILL HELP U CARRY THEM AROUND.

And now to something not quite as funny. Got a call yesterday from the store where I ordered the congas. The guy told me that the distributor is out of them. A new load from the US can be expected in 3-4 months!!! I'm importing them from Germany - a great deal cheaper than buying them here in Denmark (neighbour of Germany) I asked him to ask LP how much extra it costs to have them send right away - I'm expecting a small fortune :(

Well, otherwise I'll just have to wait...

Didn't see this coming - the main distributor in Europe out of LP Patatos?! And just when I had decided to buy!

Yep! Spot on! LP wants almost 500$ for shipping them out right away!

Guess I'll have to wait while they fill that Euro container. Good thing that I still have my old ones!

When the order is placed, 3-4 months is a long wait .

Abure Troel!
I hope that you are well my friend!

As for the issue of weight, I don't know what to tell you, my Patato Tumbadora weighed 30lbs. on the nose when I placed it on the scale. Various possibilities; scale could be off by some, drum may have less fiberglass than the older model Patatos, go figure.

The wonderful thing about getting a new set of drums is the anticipation of receiving them. Eitherway, get your order in as soon as possible, then sit back and wait. When they arrive, you'll party with them like there's no tomorrow!

Several years ago I placed an order for three "Fat" congas (Super Tumba, Conga, Quinto), it's the only Quinto I have in my collection. Well it took me up to a year and a half to finally get them. The wait was excrutiating (terribly painful), I kept visiting the website to look at the drums, drooling like Pavlov's dogs, but when they finally arrived, I was as happy as a gopher in soft dirt!

You'll be fine when they finally arrive! Enjoy!

Suave!

Hi Onile!

30 pounds, 40 pounds - not a big deal - I was just looking for "ball park" figures to compare the Patatos to my wooden congas:)

Order was placed this morning through www.rockshop.de in Germany (really nice people - got a really sweet deal too) So now I will sit down, play my old congas and wait for that e-mail telling me that my new black Patatos (conga and tumba) have been shipped!

Onile, those are some awsome lookin' drums you have! I too have been drooling at their site, because I very much like the look of those style of rims - sort of like traditional, but different.
I almost bought a bongo by german company Sonor, because they too have a line with such rim styling.
