Just scored some Bauer Congas from e-bay, 588.0 shipping included for 3 drums. they are the lite drums, and I've got to say they sound AWESOME!! I played them right next to my cherry skin on skins and what a sound! Really warm, few overtones, nice fat open tones! Wow , I wish more of these were circulating in the US, I'd really like to get a hold of the cedar drums, they must sound great, and they have some new ones that probably sound awesome as well. Best sounding production line drums I've heard!

Yes Congratulations on your new babies,
I agree they are fine tubs with good hardwear and skins, and I would be tempted if I wasnt happy with my drums.
They have a very nice dry sound with a lot of 'boom'. I changed out the skins on a set of LP Classics with Bauer skins and got the sound I wanted, its a real pain that LP put such cack original skins on their drums.
Look after those tubs, and they will look after you.
Good luck

OK Abakwa, here's a link to the drums, and my skin on skins too. Check out the choice heads on both drums! Bythe way, these Bauer lites are very light , the lightest wooden drums I've ever had, but they do not sacrifice anything in terms of sound!

I had my eye on those but I was a little short on the funds at the time. I am glad they went to someone who will appreciate them. I say that but in reality I wish I had bought them! Glad you appreciate them and you got a great deal, you really can't beat that.

Those Bauer drums look like they have rounder belly than many others.
I wonder how does this curvature affect the sound?

Hello, no the skin on skins are definitely not for sale! I have a feeling that they are going to be harder and harder to get these days. AS far as the sound of the bauers, they definitley are very warm and fat, I think a lot of that has to do with the skins though, beautiful nice skins!

Congradulations! Those are the Bauer 'Light' models.
Awesome congas. My dream set is the Bauer 'Classic' congas.
Gope is now making congas with a similar shape to the Bauers. To my mind the fat belly is the "correct" shape. I've never understood the slim line congas made by LP and others.
The Classics.

This is my first post on this forum. I found it searching for Bauer Lite conga info. I've been a drummer for many years in styles ranging from Brazilian to African to Japanese, but I'm still learning about Afro-Cuban and congas.
Not long ago, I received a set of Bauer Lite congas from my friend Ken at Espirito Drums. According to him, they are the very same drums that Dudu Tucci is playing in the photo below.
They seem great. I won't know until I am a good enough player to do them justice.
