Hello everybody! As you all know, I'm the poor guy in the bunch. I needed some drums to knock around and move alot between a studio, home and church so I could leave my other set in place and only move it for gigs. Kind of a damage control measure. I found these on ebay, but look at the heads! They are twice as thick as the typical starter set, and the drums are full 11 3/4 and 12 1/2 head sizes! I just wanted you guys to see a pic of the heads, which are a deep brown transluscent color, and are described as "select buffalo" They really sound good...especially for a cheap set. I have played alot of different drums (okay, in stores), and these sound nothing like anybody elses cheap sets. They tune easily, and have a large sweet spot where you can pick notes to fit your music with great clear open tones, sharp slaps and deep bass. If anybody is interested just pm me and I'll give you particulars..just don't want to open myself up to any abuse by revealing the brand. I have first hand experience with these, not hear-say, and they are good enough to gig with...at least in a rock/pop setting like my bands plays. I mike my drums and play tumbao, son montuno, and made up fill patterns to Christian Rock. I just wanted to share the photo so you could see the difference. These drums play with a light touch or with a heavy hand...your choice. That's all I'm good enough to ask for.

BTW, if you know your logos, you can figure out the brand yourself...no flaming please, it's a respected drum maker at least.

The drums have a great look to them, and the skins seem great also! The fact of the matter is, if you enjoy them and the sound that you can produce from them, then you've done well! LP drums for the most part come with Buffalo skins and there are many a conguero who does not change them up. The sound produced from the drum is what we wind up have the biggest concern with. I played my LPs with the original skin on them for years and liked it. It's only been within the last 10 to 12 years that I've begun changing the skins on them.

I like your drums, but most importantly YOU Do! and that's what matters brother! Now get to poundin' them skins!

Ron great buy man.... Im also a poor little old drummer :-)

I own one Meinl Luis conte drum and cant afford to buy a second tumba :-)

the looks of yours makes me want to go out and get a set they look so fresh and clean!!:p

I owned one set of cheap... really cheap drums in my life and i gave them away to a school the name was Verve <<<<< shun these by all means :-)

Thanks guys! The grain of the rubber wood is really cool in person. The flash kindof washes it out. I'll get a daylight pic sometime. They sound good, are physically gorgeous, and HEAVY. Not sure why so heavy, but I guess that's why the extra tone too. Thick heads, heavy shells...good combo for a drum. The stands are heavy steel. Not looking forward to carting them around..need a roadie! LOL Oh, there's a rubber ring at the bottom so they won't slip! And it really works, too. I played with tuning the tumba a little. It will go up well into normal conga range, and still has a very deep bass tone. My wife came in from out in the yard and said they were audible outside through the walls! All kinds of stuff in the living room rattles when I play a bass tone on the tumba.. it really moves some air. Can't wit to get it to church or the studio this weekend. Thanks again for the replies.

Good for you Ron, glad you're diggin the new drums.

You need to put them in the car and bring them to the KC rumba at Loose Park some warm Sunday this summer.

Thanks Mike. My work schedule is strange with the 12 hour shift swinging from days to nights every two weeks. I do want do it though. I'm hoping the nice weather will motivate!

hello bongoron. this is my first time posting here although i've used this place as a source of info for months now. recently i bought the same drums but in red. don't kill me guys it was all i could afford what can i say estoy pelao. anyway $250 bucks for all three drums w/stands. the only difference is the company name is baja. i'm interested in knowing what brand yours are so i can find out what wood and skin mine possibly came with. thanks

Hi Ron!
Good looking drums and as brother onile stated, the most important point is, that they sound good to you, no matter how they're called!
And as a matter of fact, SONOR isn't that bad (especially for drum sets). So hit 'em hard and have alot of fun!
