Hello everybody,

I just wanted to know if you leave the bolts (for mounting LP Conga on stand e.g.) in the shell or not? ???

I have just taken them off for the first time - looks a bit like Swiss cheese, my beautiful Matador+Classic...

I mean - is there any disadvantage in removing them? I´m a bit scared that the shell is more unprotected at these holes :O

Like safer sex, safer shells ??? :p

Any ideas?

You can get plugs for them, dunno where you can buy them at though. Try emailing LP.

Thanx!

Although I wonder what kind of plug should be useful - rubber, wood ?
Perhaps I try mailing LP indeed, on the other hand there might be more advice by the skilful congueros out there ?!? :;):

The ones I have on my Classics are chrome, I think the are factory from LP, so you can probably order them seperate.

The bolts that support the hardware are carrage bolts and will not fit into the hole properly because of the sholder. You can usually find suitable replacements at a good hardware store.

Hello KKonga and deadhead,

if I get it right, what you say is: fill the holes in the shell with hardware etc under any circumstances to prevent damage of the wood?

Then I´ll have a try at the local hardware store.

Thanks again.

Hi there!

I guess I found the least costly way of filling the holes in the shell: Hardware store, furniture department, they have these plastic thingos (bouchons en francais?) you need when you want to cover bolt holes. Frankly speaking it´s not the most beautiful solution, but for 0,20€ I can´t complain  ...
I can live with it and with the 50g useless gold bolts off my quinto feels relieved of the weight :D

I´ve made a photo of the ´solution´ but I can´t post it - help! Uploading doesn´t seem to work..

Well, finally I got it....

The colour matches more or less the conga, so that won´t disturb me.
