Hey, que pasa! Saludos de Puerto Rico!... I'm starting to save up for getting a pair of handmade congas, and I just wanted to get your feedback on the JCR congas- I read u have 2, right? Any info. u can share such as wood type, how they compare to your other drums, approx. price, etc., will be greatly appreciated.

Vaya Boricua!
Espero que todo este bien contigo Papa!

I have a set of two and I can personally tell you that they sound "Phat", suenan cabrones mi Pana! The fact that they are made of Oak and have mule skins on them only add to the skill level of whatever player that is fortunate enough to play them.

I would encourage you however to talk with Isaac though, I'm not sure what the schedule is in terms of building 'em. I am currently waiting for a 13" Tumba from JCR, it should be ready real soon.

Isaac has been extremely helpful with my purchase, always keeping me informed of the status and asking me about the thickness of skin I preferred, it's as though I was making the drums in absentia (?sp).

Papa! I would definitely recommend a set if you could see yourself to getting 'em!
Estoy contento con mis tumbadoras!

Suave!

Onile!

Hey Onile,
I got a question for you:

Why do I keep seeing a pink bungee cord wrapped around one of your congas in your pictures?

Technique used by many 'sit down' congueros to stop the lugs from bashing against the other drum.

Alafia Abures!
Que Pasa Abure Abakua!

Actually, I use the bungee cord on my main drum to wrap it around my throne and hook the ends onto the conga drum while I'm playing. This way it helps to hold it in place and I can lean it forward and not have to constantly hold it with my knees! Oh! and the cords I use are actually "red" in color, but in the pics of course they look pink!

Many blessings my brothers!
