Hi guys and gals,

I've just won a set of LP Custom Shop conga's and bongo.
I'll explain: The dutch drummersmagazine, Slagwerkkrant, celebrated their 25th anniversary with a giveaway. The only thing you had to do, was sign in and write down why you should be the winner. THAT'S IT!!
Now I can configurate and order (instead of dreaming.....).
The dream (now reality) was/is:
Classis Wood in Matte Green fade down with brushed nickel hardware topped with Extended Collar CCII rim. Code: C-AG-33HN-DG0M.
There is only one minus: traditional rims (which I prefer) are not available in nickel brushed. But I can live with that.
Oh, almost forgot to tell, delivery time is 3 to 4 months, but I can live with that too, I already have a few drums to play.

Greetings,
René
9", 11", 11,75" & 12,5 white Patato's
11,75" & 12,5" blue Afro fibrewood
11" & 11,75" white Afro fibre
Giovanni Compact Conga
Pearl Practice Conga

I'm really interested, just what did you write to win the drums? :D

Hello Pavloconga,

I don't think that what I wrote has anything to do with winning the conga's. It was a giveaway. They put everything in a bowl and picked one. And that was (lucky) me.

But in Dutch I wrote:
Congaspelen is een "way of life", geen dag zonder. Nu al 25 jaar op vier witte Patato's. Afwissellen met groene Custom Shops zou geweldig zijn.

I'll translate:
Playing congas is a "manier van leven", not a day without. Now 25 years on four white Patatos. Varying with green Custom Shops would be great.

Grtnx,
Rene

Hi there,

Better late, than .....
Due to some circumstances, I didn't get the chance to post a picture of the LP Custom Shops.
Well, here they are. A quinto, conga, tumba and a bongo.
I've waited almost 5 months for the set. Ordered in feb. 2008 en finally got them by the end of june 2008.
After I unpacked them, I didn't play them for three to four weeks. But every day I watched them and tuned them little by little. The sound was (and is still) getting better day by day.
Now I play them every day. I think my other drums must be very jealous. Four white LP Patato's are stored in their bags, two blue Afro Fibrewoods are played once a week and two white Afro Fibre's are waiting to be restored.

Grtnx,
René

This is my first set with waterbuffaloheads. All my other conga's (except for the Giovanni Compact) have thick cowhide, which I like, because of the sound and feel. I've never played this long on a decently tuned set with waterbuffalo on it. I don't dislike these heads, they only feel "greasy" and that's the only thing I don't like. I'm sure with quality heads the sound will improve, but I like them the way they are.
