Does anyone own some of this LP's ? I find the design eye pleasing , And with a change of heads could this drum be even better.

I had a touch and feel at the local Guitar Center, I would put the sound just a touch above Aspires. The hardware looks a bit weak and flimsy.

I just played on a set of these earlier today, not bad a little heavy, the comfort rim is kind of squarish, I guess they are kind of middle of the line, better than Aspires that's for sure, a good beginner's drum.

The drum looks nice but I don't like the crown. I have just seen another version of this with a nice design in the center of the drum. I think it looks better than some of the newer LP drums that I have seen lately.

I am interested in knowing if you order a set from the factory through the store and request traditional hardware , would they do that ? at no extra charge. I would think that would be good service. Don't you think ?

When I was shopping around for my classics, my buddy, who worked at a local music store, called LP and asked if they could get me a set of classics with traditional hardware. He said that the LP rep told him they could but they would have to put in a special order at the factory in Thailand and it could take up to 6 months. ??? So needless to say i just ordered the Classics with the comfort curve. I can always get some traditional rims later on.

Today I went to the local guitar center, and have their rep asking. I looked at the drums there, they had some Galaxiess , some aspires and classics II .and Gon Bops; this is my report, all of them had low grade heads; the LP's had that see through thing ringy skins, yakkk!! The crown on the classics II was a bit thicker. To my surprise the GB had the same thickness as the performer. But to think that you pay good money for some Galaxies and you get them sh....y heads. Good thing I know where I can get some good skins.

oh yeah..

LP Handpicked is superb! My Patatos couldn`t wear any thing else...

Olsongo, you can`t grade the quality and the sound of a conga only on the basis of the thickness of the drumhead. LP Performers head is really low grade compared to the head of a Galaxy...

Stithra, Lp handpicked are middle of the road heads, nothing to write home about. I have been dealing in skins fro drums for sometime now , and I know that a good natural head without all of the commercial process can make a big difference. I get skins from South America intact with all of the oils still in it , and what a difference.

Hey these drums aren't bad.
They are a million times better than Aspires. Seriously.

You get all 3 for $600.
These are a special deal only through Musician's Friend/Guitar Center (same company).

I bought the tumba and conga today in dark wood. They look great but the hardware is cheap. The skins are thin but they still sound pretty good. Great slaps and full tones. I got both for $375 US$.

I plan on changing the rims (Matador traditional), rods and skins only. Everything else is the same old Classic wood body and side plates. I've ordered the rods and rim hardware myself. Don't have the factory do it, much easier and cheaper just to change them yourself. Then, new skins and I've got 2 great drums for under $500.

Someone here mentioned that the profile cut was the same as the classics? No its not... if you look closer the classics are a bit fatter in the middle.

no they are the same, i own both and have measured.

it's the same drum with cheaper rod and rim hardware and skin.
