Alafia Abure Roka!
I hope that you are well and in an abundance of blessings!
I have ordered a set of two drums from Isla, one 13" and one 12.5", so far I haven't received them, but I've been guaranteed a great product.
I've been dealing with Mario and he's been extremely courteous and accomodating with my order. I've been able to change things on my order without any complaints or concerns from him. He has also kept me informed of the progress of the drums, sending me pics of them as they are being developed.
I expect nothing but the best of product from Isla Percussion, and will post my evaluation of the drums once I receive them. I will say this however, dealing with Mario has been a very welcoming and comfortable experience!
here is his information:

They are one of the few Latino (Puerto Rican) manufacturers in the USA which is run by drummers (congueros, percussionists). Each drum must meet their rigorous standards before leaving the factory.
Many blessings!
Onile!
This is the style of drums that I ordered, the finish will be in early american walnut however. I'm looking forward to them.

Those are nice, for sure...
But what's up with the shape of those drums? They look a bit unusual to me...

Part of it is the angle the picture was taken of course, but yeah it does have an interesting shape, although not unusual!

Onile,
Very nice pics! Ok, now give us the road test. How do they sound, project and so forth? Are they heavy?

hello everyone
my first time posting...although i've read through the posts many many times. anyway, i'm getting ready to go in for a big set of congas (3-5) and am wanting opinions and comparisons on jcr and isla. I've talked to Isaac and Mario. It is hard to decide, and I'm sure either would be an amazing set. I was just wanting to hear from those who have experienced both congas. I'm most concerned with the sound and the durability of the drums and sound. any opinions on the two...particulaly the types of wood and skin used. thanks in advance, i look forward to your advice

SALUDOS FAMILIA!
HA SIDO UN TIEMPITO PERO TODAVIA HAY AMOR.
I HAVE TO AGREE WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT MARIO IS GREAT TO DEAL WITH, JUST ORDERED SOME SKINS TO REPLACE THE BUFFALO HIDE THAT CAME WITH MINE AND I'M MORE THAN SURE THAT IT'LL MAKE A 100% DIFFERENCE.
SUAVE HERMANO.
