Hi mkv.

Id go for thick on the tumba all the time. the quinto is a matter of taste thinner skins give a higher tone and crackling slaps , thicker on the qiunto give s more a lower wider tone but still get the high crack slaps but different then thinner . What music do you intend to play Songo salsa etc.. or Afrocuban Folkloric ? if its Folkloric go for the thicker warmer tone skins .
It really is a matter of personal choice but at least you know what to expect for thick or thin on the quinto .
Also a point worth mentioning are you Congas made from wood or Fiblreglass?
this changes things again . thick cow or mule go well on fibreglass.

hey marco , thank you for the answer :)

I usually play contempoery (spl ?) stuff, like pop, hip hop, electronic... and my congas are made of wood.
but it sound to me that i'll be in the safe zone by putting the thinner skin on the quinto.
