Does anybody know which model drum that the LP Eddie Montalvo Series is? Classic? Classic II? Other? I love the design on them! If anyone owns them, or has played them, please share your thoughts.

Thanks!

At last, I got my LP Eddie Montalvos!!! I love 'em! Been breaking them in for the past few days. A couple of things I'm wondering about. I didn't know that they came with the lugs for mounting mics. Has anyone had experience with these (good or bad), as far as vibration, during performances? I won't be performing with them until possibly this weekend, but I would like to utilize these to eliminate the mic stand clutter on stage. Also, I bought a Gibraltar double stand for them, but mounting and unmounting the drums is a little nerve racking, as when only one drum is mounted, the stand can tip over very easily. I'm thinking that I'm gonna have to switch to the individual basket stands to avoid any mishaps.

Throw some thoughts my way on these issues, if you would please.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your beautiful drums. I play with my mic’s hooked on to my lugs as well and have never had a problem. I have seen the lugs that you have and was actually impressed with them they certainly looked sturdy enough to mount a mic. I really don’t think that you will have a problem. They are also convenient because it makes it that much more easy to mount the mic’s hope that helps, enjoy your drums.

Flashman2,

Congrats on your new congas!

Although I tend to be relatively a minimalist as far as external appearances of congas are concerned and I'm not a big fan of congas with graphic design, I have to admit that, IMO, the graphics design and colors of your new LP Eddie Montalvos are rather tastefully modern.

Re: lug-mounted mic, I'm all for it. Mine are actually mounted on the rims. I have a total of 5 for my multi-percussion setup, which includes 2 or 3 congas, pair of bongos, pair of timbales and various percussion toys. Along with Shure mic clamps, I use 4 unidirectional Shure SM57s for all my drums and 1 omnidirectional Shure condenser mic (I forgot what the exact designation is.) directly above my rack of percussion toys.

I've had absolutely no problems with vibration.

One very nice advantage to a drum-mounted mic that it moves along with the drum (unlike a mic on a separate stand) every time you make an adjustment to the drum's position or set configuration. This would be more so if you use individual basket stands. And that's why I have them and use them myself.

Hope these help,
