Hello Congueros,

I thought you could help me on this one

I'm currently thinking of buying a set of old Gon Bops. The guys is offering me them for a very good price and they look really nice. The thing is, that I would like to know more of the drums - when they were made, sort of wood, etc.
Below are some pictures of the drums. On one of them it says "Gon Bops 14110/786 Model # 34". If anybody can help me finding out more about these I would be very grateful. And also if you have any opinion on the quality of these drums, feel free to express it...

Those are flat sawn oak without a doubt. I have an oak Gon Bops conga just like them.
That particular model has the higher end hardware, a higher end set in the Gon Bops range.

Those are in great condition, buy them as soon as possible, you will
have no regrets.

What sizes are they? It looks like your camera (is it a phone?) is distorting the shapes a bit..

Oh and nice stuffed animal collection you got there!

I agree, they look like lovely drums. My past instructor Yaya Maldonado had a quinto exactly in the style (I believe) and that sounded very nice, he may have had some issues with it later but I think that was been related to the skin (probably the thickest I'd seen on a drum) putting too much strain on the shell.

@ King Conga: Those are indeed beauties as well - but since I'm living in Denmark, I think they would be too expensive to have shipped over here. I'm currently living in New York City and am simply amazed by the acces to top quality instruments. Unfortunately it is way too expensive to bring home...

Canal and Grand, Manhattan. 27th of October and 10th & 17th of November. If you can't make it - be sure to check Adam out, he is an amazing handdrummer with a very different approach to the instruments.

Thank you for all your help - I just bought them and they will be waiting for me when I return to Denmark in the start of December...Can't wait to play them! I will post additional pictures and a status report as soon as I've laid my hands on them. Thanks again
