All 3 sets shown above have new heads on them. You don't have to wait a year to get them. Junior and Ismael, may they rest in peace. Jay is still kicking ass.
Don't have any photos of Don Ismael Ramos.

More photos of the Skin on Skin set by the pool. Jay signed the inside 10-8-85. That's when he was at his shop in Atlantic Ave in Brookyn. Man, this tubs sound awesome, on account of the oak and the incredible "cueros de mula" (mule skins)

Beautiful Congas I wish you luck in the sales and wish I could afford any of the 3 sets they are all worth it. I know its hard to let go of such works of art, our instruments become like our children we spend time talking with them and through them, alone and with others. We express thoughts and feelings that mere words could not accomplish yet our drums speak for us. I guess like we must let go of our children eventually we must let go of some of the drums we have grown to love. I'm sure you have loved these which we here on the forum can tell by the way you proudly displayed them for the rest of us to enjoy. Thank you for having shared photos of them on the forum and I hope they go to someone who will appreciate them and care for them as you have. Gracias y buena suerte

Gracias Doc, for your kind words. In reality, divorce (the big D) is an ugly state of affairs, I'm navegating through it now. That's the main reason I'm offering these wonderful congas. My mind is not in congas at the moment. I'll keep maybe 2 sets (another Junior and another Skin on Skin) and my work horses a pair of 70's original LPs. The rest is available. Rest assure, I have taken care of them like I have my 2 daughters.

Que no se pare la rumba!

You are so right-divorce is hell! Mine just went through on Sept. 3rd. I got the house! I'm happy, she's not-my new credo. As soon as I come up with 15K, the house will be in my name. I'll be selling about 8 congas, a boat, a piano and alot of misc. stuff. But not my soul. My life is now much less stressful and I'm thankful for that. Bucko

Steven,

You're the Picasso of the conga drum. Your refinishing techniques are far superior to anything I've seen. Them Matts never looked so good. As far as sound forget about it, they are truly Stradivarius. Incredible slaps from the macho. Just like Bucko said, I feel stress free now and can play guaguanco whenever the hell I feel like it. I kept the house as well (for now) and most of the time my son stays with me.

Abrazos, Picasso.

Incredible! The love expressed in these posts for our drum "children". The shared pain of the big D so many of us have been through (I'm on my 3rd wife). The pain and devotion to those things that fill our soul (drums and wives). And not least-- the empathy I feel for my forum bros.

Do not worry too much Dario I have been thru the same twice and like others said is not easy. On the first one I lost everything and went to live with my parents, on the second one money was the issue, I kept the house but hurricane george destroy it and I went back again to my parents house, also my two sons went with her but returned with me after some time. So do not worry you will get everything back with twice the amounts of happiness ,Congas, Bongos and all the things that you love including a new sweetheart. Life is good and after all that Barrunto you get to see everything better, breath better, and appreciate things that you may have forgoten. Been single means to do todo lo que te de la gana hasta llegar a casa a las 0730 de la mañana sin que Manuela te peleé. After the divorce is like been left into a hole and slowly you start to get out until you are up and look around and said wow ! what a nice ass is walking down the street. :D

Thanks for words of wisdom. I do feel better already, everything is kicking back slowly. I got a new lady that enjoys music, so everything will eventually fall back into place. Gracias por los mensajes positivos.
