Synthetic head for my Patato

I live in a cold, wet area, and I'd like to buy a synthetic head for my Patato conga. In the past, with other drums, I've had no luck finding non-LP synthetic heads which actually fit the drum; the flesh hoops were generally just wrong enough in size to be a problem.

Can anyone suggest a synthetic head that will actually-100%-for-sure fit my LP drum?

Washboard,

Below is a link to a Remo drumhead chart that I think will be able to help you out in choosing a correct model for your Patato's.

Heads for Toca Synergy and Patato Congas (updated)

Guys,

I teach at a school and I'd like to retrofit my 6 Toca Synergy Congas (i have 3 pairs of Quinto and Tumbas) with Skyndeep heads.

I also have 2 Patato Model congas (11.75 rims) with Comfort Curve 2 rims from LP and an LP classic Tumba (12.5) with a Comfort Curve 2 rims.

I have Remo's Crimplock Symmetry PDF chart but I'm really confused. I'd really like someone to give me the following information.

1. Does Remo offer Skyndeep heads or even Fyberskin heads for Toca Synergy congas? (http://www.tocapercussion.com/product/c ... _wood.html)

2. I assume that if I wanted the Tiger stripe, I'd need two M4-1175-S6-D1007 to retrofit the Patato 11.75 congas and one M4-1250-S6-D1007 for the LP Classic Tumbadora? Please confirm I'm correct.

3. I've tried visiting ALL the listed online dealers and none of them have Tiger Stripe heads (I can use Calfskin color for the Toca Synergy heads...but I'd like Tiger Stripes for the Patato and LP Classic congas). Is there an online distributor that has what I need?

I'm looking to do a big purchase of heads in the coming days...I'd appreciate any information ASAP Smile Thank you!

Firebrand,

In answer to your questions:

1. Your Toca Synergy congas come in 10" and 11" head sizes. I just checked the Remo website and didn't find any Skyndeep heads for them. No Tiger Stripe, Calf Skin and even Puerto Rican Flag. Nada! I have a pair of Toca Player's Series (fiberglass) congas (my 1st congas) and I retrofitted them a couple of years ago with Fiberskyn heads. However, Remo didn't have them available in the Crimplock version, so I had to buy them in the Tucked version.

2. Based on the Remo website catalog, you're right about these products numbers.

3. The last online dealer I bought my Remo Fiberskyn Crimplock Symmetry head (for my Gon Bops California Series 11.5" conga) from was Memphis Drum Shop (http://memphisdrumshop.com). They seem to be quite reputable and one of the larger Remo dealers here in the U.S. I'm very happy with them (competitive prices and fast service) and highly recommend them. If they also don't have any of either Tiger Stripes or Calf Skins, then may I suggest placing a special order with them.

I hope these help and best of luck,

firebrand, not to be rude, but why are you changing the subject line and hijacking washboards thread?

Sure its related, but geez, give the newbie a break.

No harm, no foul.

Carry on...

Tonio,

Oops, so sorry! I didn't even realize that the subject line had changed. I didn't look back earlier than Firebrand's response. I guess I became an unwitting accessory to the "crime". Glad I didn't get directly flamed. LOL!

Mea culpa,

Washboard, I live in a warmer but very humid North Carolina and tried a Nuskin for my Patato. Its a 11 inch traditional rim model that actually is 10 3/4 edge to edge. I didn't like the synthetic and went to a thick steerhide. I get a deep, dark tone and a crackin' slap. Sometimes I have to tighten the head once or twice per set. The Nuskin is like new and I'll sell it for 25.00 plus actual shipping. Buckoh

Honest opinion....I didn't even realize it belonged to someone else. I thought I had started the thread, because I have patato congas and I had previously posted on heads. Didn't see who was the ACTUAL starter of the thread.

Thanks for the info guys.
