Juanito...I mean "King Conga", Wow! That is truly a "Masterpiece"! Bro, I'm going to have to swing by your pad to check this beauty out. Just reading this story has inspired me to dust off my Congas and begin playing again!

Blessings, Ruben

I just had to post this picture. it's of my recent restored Requena. I took all of my wife’s lladro figurines from the amour and put my conga in it, she just about had a heart attack and warned me that if I did not want to see my drum on e-bay that Id best take it out...she won

In my case it would be more like ....Wife, up for bids, she can cook, takes care of laundry, cleans the house...at times complains about my congas being everywhere, but besides that in good condition. Happy bidding. :D

Help! What would you recomend I put at the bottom of my Requena so that the wood does not come in direct contact with the floor?

Rubber.

Get bicycle tyre tube, small enough to be a tight fit once slicing it down the centre, slide over the base. Done. 8)

@KingConga - I kinda can't blame your wife. My wife has a Lladro that is worth more than my whole set of congas. LOL!

@King Conga, that really is a beautiful drum, I truly feel that Matthew Smith is the top independent drum maker right now (and I'm a huge fan of Ralph Flores and the Flores tradition), that finish just looks unrivaled. Enjoy it.

I love this drum so much I have just commisioned Matthew to replicate it and custom make me a 9.75" requinto out of Ash, but stained to match the dark finish of your Requena. 8)
