Advise about Schalloch congas!

Postby dabesa » Fri Nov 13, 2009 1:55 pm

Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to this forum and I'm already asking for advises :)

What are the opinions about Schalloch congas?
I saw in some old post that they are good value for the money and also very strong hardware, is it still the case? :)

Thanks!

To put things into context: :)

This is the Schalloch website:

I found the 410 series, conga and tumba for 600e and they look great!!

Thanks

First of all welcome to the forum! :)

The Schallochs do have a good reputation, solid construction and more lugs than necessary
(Just joking, of course you can tune a conga more precisely with 7 or more lugs.)
Having that said, they are nowadays mass produced and they also have a low-grade series.

But the 400 + 600 product lines you mention seem to be more than OK.

As long as you do not mean this line: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2857&hilit=schalloch+thomas Cf. the first picture

Yes, you are right.. the model you gave a link for looks so cheap! It reminds me the CP from LP.

Once you try to tune them, the part of the crown where the hook attaches just bends!

But their upscale series look much better!

Thanks guys!!
unfortunately they got sold out, my bad that I took too long to decide!
The dealer told me that Schalloch congas won't be available anymore as Mainl bought the brand and they're now simplifying the product line... so will be Pearl Elite probably :D

Ciao!

I have a pair of these entry level congas. They were fine to learn on/begin with and I even used them in live situaitons. However, they are only entry level and now I am stuck trying to sell my pair so I can upgrade when I probably could have bought a little bit better drum in the beginning. But I got these off of Musicians Friend with a cajon for a pretty good deal at the time so I can't complain. These drums served me well and I definately got my moneys worth out of them - many times over.
