Show me your conga microphone setup

I'm trying to decide which mic and monitor/amplification combo to buy and if you guys don't mind posting some pics and descriptions of your setup, i'd love to see them. I'd like to hear myself better in the current gig I do with a steel drum band but, I see myself playing some salsa so amplification is also important. I'd like to get something that serves me in these settings but, doesn't break the bank.

Luis, this has worked out for me, and pretty affordable when I bought them several years ago. Prices may have changed though[/attachment]

The mics are a Samson 3 pack of clip-ons that ran about $100. Feed the three of them plus a stand mic for the bongos into a Tapco 120 Mixer which ran a little over $100.

Best investment I ever made.

Luis,

Not too sophisticated but does the job.... bought used Mackie Micro Series 1202 (pre-China),

run 3 Shure SM-57's ...and sometimes 2 Shure PG-81 overheads... snake all to the main (but lately

have been running in to a Zoom H4n recorder (see below))....seems to generate quality recorded tone. The Shure

mics and Mackie mixer are readily available on e-bay...will not break the bank. Still working my way thru

good music file management software.

Good luck...tons of options...almost all deliver serviceable return. The age old adage...get the best

you can afford is probably wise.

My stuff , while not high-end ...does the job.

Peace, Chas

My set up is a Behringer 1204fx mixer, a Mackie 15" powered speaker, 3 Sennheiser E604s and whatever drums I use for the evening!
