Timbas Del Valle Requinto

Postby caballoballo » Mon Feb 01, 2010 10:32 am

:D This beautiful requinto was made by my friend Papo Del Valle. Stainless steel complete hardware including the bands and bolts. Mahogany and Cedar combination wood, if you look carefully the number 40 is stamped on the Cow skin. Very soon he is going to start making Bongos. Enjoy

Abakua, Papo is located in Carolina Puerto Rico about 25 minutes from my house. He is a fine artisan who makes Congas,Pleneras,Barriles de Bomba and like I said very soon Bongos will be made. He is the one working on my old Valje Bongó which should be ready this Friday .

Yambu, yes indeed it is a beautiful Requinto and has an excellent beautiful sound. Papo himself is percussionist playing in various groups. He at least once a year for a week conduct a class at the instituto de cultura Puertoriqueño on how to make all this instruments.

It's stated in the OP, sir.

Does he do it with gold hardware and metal fleck paint?

SalseroBoricua, Yes he may take orders for drums . Just talk to him in advance or like you said pay a visit to discuss what and how you want your drums. His number is 787-752-9083. Cachiro lives about 10 minutes from my home,I remember once at the Palo 11 Club he got trouble to go in to play with La Mulenze and I end up playing Bongó on two themes. He has a great Tumbao. My friend Orlando Soto who plays with me in Tropical Jamn has the same tumbao also. In Ponce there is a guy by the name of Jorge Miranda former Bongocero from Sonora Ponceña he makes Solid Piece Bongos but you have to take the hardaware, lugs, crowns and bottom hoops to him because he do not fabricate them. His Number is 787-312-3927, also very close is Lito In Arroyo number 787-246-8387. Make your schedule.
