I am planning on purchasing a requinto and wanted some opinions on best value.

As of now the Bauer classic Quinto which is actually 9.75(a Brazillian sizing thing) for $464/free shipping seems to be the best so far.The dealer has vintage rims available too which is more appealing to me.I'd prefer an old style drum with the bands but its not that important.

I'd love to buy used,but the shipping usually is more than the purchase and most sellers are wary of out-of town deals.

any advice would be appreciated

I own a Bauer requinto - nice drum.

I own an Isla requinto - better drum.
Especially within the context of rumba - which is the requinto's purpose.

What about the DW Gon Bops Alex Acuna series. They make a requinto and the Alex Acuna Gon Bops
I have seen are very well made drums. I'm not sure what the prices are, but I have seen the Alex Acunas
go for very reasonable prices.

My recomendation would be the Isla Requinto, the sound is awesome plus you can get it with or without the bands. I also am looking to buy one in the near future and will be going with the Isla.

Luckily there is a Canadian Bauer dealer (I'm guessing that's where you are looking)- looks like they are only an online store. They are in your neck of the woods. "Our company is 100-percent Canadian-owned and -operated. We are based in the beautiful Okanagan Valley" .It'd be great if you could go and actually pick one out but I'm guessing not.

Hi Burke,yes the Bauer dealer I spoke to was in the Okanagan,Rick was very helpful and friendly when I spoke to him and he said he had 2 requintos in stock,free shipping.
I really am interested in the moperc too,not a bad deal @ $45o,but I am going to do some research on shipping costs as he is a long distance.

I also plan on checking shipping costs with Isla.Does anyone know where their drums are shipped from?

If I were you I would get an Isla.
The Bauer requinto I own is a beautiful drum but it simply is not loud enough.
My Isla requinto sings at HIGH volume - it's a scorcher - cuts like a knife.
The Bauer is much warmer and not as bright, not as cutting.
Just my opinion.
