Hi everyone.. Well I'm starting a new project with some King Congas I picked up.. I'll keep updating as I go. Any ideas or suggestions on restoration are more then welcome.. Thanks and enjoy...

Congratulations, this is no doubt a great find. Can't wait to see the progress on these beauties, good luck.
BTW, do you know if you will keep the same color?

The man to talk to is Taikonoatama, he's a big fan of Kings and has worked on several of them.

Thanks guy's.. I'm going with a Dark red for the color.. and it's off to the painter to prepare and paint.. I'm going to start polishing up the hardware.. I'll post more pic's as I go..

Unbelievable!!!!! They look gorgeous. That color sure stands out, does it have any metallic in it? How many coats of paint do they have?

This is another set of King's for sale a while back. A little similar.
I think yours would look really sharp with some classic King Conga pinstripes.

Wow they turned out fantastic. You have a custom classic set of drums, CONGATULATIONS. I dont even have to see them with hardware on to tell.

Kings are nice congas, no overtones, no ringing. They have a nice dry sound, just like Echo Tones. I should have kept mine (photo enclosed). I hear Armando Peraza, the original endorser, has a garage full of them in SF. I should give him a call, I know him since the days he was in Mongo's band. Armando, Candito and Francisco, the last of the Mohicans left (MoCubans).

Well,, this is the finished product.. let me know what you think… For some odd reason the camera makes them look a little lopsided but they are not…
