This conga set of Gon Bops teardrop model from 1975 belonged to my friend Nelson Flaco Padron. You can see Flaco on Youtube. Flaco recorded all the Bee Gees "Saturday Night Fever" tunes with these congas. The macho is 11' and the hembra is 13 1/4" (super tumba). They both have mule heads from Venezuela. Very rare set to find in 2010. Selling for $799. This was the most expensive Gon Bops model, mahogany with fiberglass coating on top, they have been painted. Awesome sound, very melodic congas. Email me if interested.

Very difficult in present day 2010 to find a set such as this. These mothers really sing, very melodic sounding congas and priced very reasonable. You don't have to change or add a thing to them, just need to play them. Tumba tumbador!

If you give them away they won't take them people are not buying, yet they are good drums . Specially the people that just play for love of the art those are the ones that buy . There is no work for the professional musicians out there and no reason to buy a new instrument they keep old till it brakes apart. Esta esto malo conoooooooooooooooo[/quote]

In comparison with todays mass produced congas, these are sooooo much superior. They are priced below a set of LP, Toca , Pearl, Meinl (these being mass produced sets you can buy at a music store). This set is in a league comparable to a custom made set, but at less than half the price. A 13.25" super tumba is a very desirable mamma. With the mule heads, this set really burns.
Con Barretto y Mongo, Congo Bongo' !!!!!!

Hello!

I must say that I agree with leedy about the financial and economic state we are in. My heart aches when I see something that goes underpriced or overpriced too, but the worst pain is, when seeing or receiving such an offer as this and don't have the cash to purchase it. I must say that this pair of mammas is really something special. I'm kind of a freak on special thingies and design, that's why I would really love to own someday these, echo tones, Matthew Smiths... You name it. Personally I'm done with big labels... Maybe just old Patatos, old fiberglas matador... See, it just keeps goin' on and on...
Keep away from casinos folks, no good!

Keep the groove!

P.

They are so delicious looking, and have no doubt sound as well. But leedy is right. Wish I could, but I don't see a "recovery". It's time to suck it up and move on.

I will reduce the price to $699, one hundred less than when originally listed. If not I'll have an artist friend of mine paint a Caribbean motiff on them and keep them, as they sound awesome. Very rare set from the mid 70's, super huge tumba 13 1/4".
