I saw a post with a drum like this one. Would you say this is a Mexican drum? (Zim Gar)

None the less a nice looking drum not to mention that the hardware looks pretty sturdy as well. I would not mind having it.

The drum is not in my possession yet. Yes the hardware looks pretty sturdy from the pic but, I am a little concerned if it will take some tension or not. For the very reasonable price I will buy it. Worse come to worse, I will put some heavier side plates on it that I have. I'll soon find out.

Guy’s I’ve seen people continuously post rather offensive remarks when it comes to Mexican Drums and Mexican people in the past so I figure I’d bring it to your attention. If this is the type of forum were such things are going to take place then maybe I was wrong in my perception of the forum. I hope I’m wrong because there are some very talented and knowledgeable people here and I would hate to leave if it’s only a few ignorant people making or holding such feelings.

There is no ill feelings about Mexico or Mexicans whatsoever, Mexico or Mejico is a great country, however, their congas is not one of their strong points. Don't twist points of views, we are talking congas here. Cuba makes lousy Guacamole and Tacos.

Mexican cuisine and the colorful Mexican culture are true gifts to the world. Congas made in Mexico, not so much. Just so happens tonight I'll be playing rumba at a celebration of the Mexican holiday Dio de Los Muertos in La Mission, the Mexican center of San Francisco.

I am not trying to make something out of nothing simply wanted to put it out there and see. I agree that Mexican drums are not the best (I don’t think anyone will argue that) but I think we can leave it at that. Peace.

Hola emveeone. I can assure you that there is no need to take it personal, Omelenko said it well, It's got nothing to do with us Mexican's, in fact I beg to differ with you about comments regarding Mexicans, in the years that I’ve been part of this forum I have not come across anything derogatory in regards to Mexican nationals, let's keep everything in perspective and recognize that what’s in question in solely the issue of Mexican congas. IMHO I must say that I have in fact seen some very well built Mexican congas, congas that I would not mind having but for the most part, structurally speaking and in regards to the hardware, these drums are not very good.
Peace.

Are you Mexican or Latino even? Perhaps you have misinterpreted the posts?

There have been no derogatory marks towards Mexicans. I have Mexican family, Argentinian family, Brazilian family, & Cuban family, not like I am going to go round slandering my own race/culture.
