Isla Customer Satisfaction Poll

Postby pcastag » Sun Nov 28, 2010 2:50 am

With all the drama surounding what appears to be the issues with Isla I figured a poll for customers would be interesting. Please only post if you are an actual cstomer. See how long this hangs before the moderators get at it, maybe they'll let it stay.

PACASTAG.
(MOSTLY SATISFIED) WAS LEFT OUT.

WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS (SOMEWHAT SATISFIED).
MOSTLY SATISFIED SHOULD BE ADDED TO THIS POLL.
OTHERWISE IT'S FORCING AN INCORRECT CHOICE OF SATISFACTION TO BE MADE BY ISLA OWNERS.

AND I AM SURE, THAT YOU WOULD LIKE AS ACCURATE A POLL AS POSSIBLE.

I KNOW THAT THIS IS LIKE:
IS THE GLASS HALF EMPTY, OR HALF FULL?
BUT THERE IS STILL A DIFFERENCE.

You probably don't want to change wording after the poll has started and has 6 responses already. If you decide that you do, since you will be dealing with small numbers I suggest you keep the number of categories at 5 and not increase them. Also, you don't want to make the choices asymmetrical by having 3 categories better than neutral but only 2 worse than neutral, that could produce the perception of bias. Also, stay with satisfied or dissatisfied, don't change to disappointed for the last category.

I agree with Charlie that some people may be more than somewhat but less than completely satisified (or dissatisfied). You can take into account what Charlie is suggesting by combining the Completely Satisfied and Mostly Satisfied into Very Satisfied, still using 5 categories.

Very Satisfied
Somewhat Satisfied
Neutral
Somewhat Dissatisfied
Very Dissatisfied

This 5 point scale will be perceived as more balanced and less biased than either the current or the previously proposed scales. Even so, now that people have started responding, it is probably best to leave the wording the way it is, at least it is clear what you mean even if some are forced to choose between completely and somewhat satisfied.

I voted neutral.
Here's my story - I ordered and paid full price for the set of bata, Mario gave me promise the drums will be finished in 3 weeks. In the end it took 7 months to get them. At the beginning I got reply to every email I wrote to Mario, but as time passed, I sometimes didn't hear 2 months from him, which is unacceptable customer servis, I think. Anyway, I got the bata, I really like the sound - that's important for me - but the drums have the same imperfections Cadenza described on the congas he received - glue lines, there are even some holes between the staves on okonkolo - at first look I was pretty scared, but, as said, the drums play nice, so I don't worry about it now.

I wasn't happy with the Iya enu sound in the beginning, and after some emailing with Mario, he offered me to send skin replacement for the price of shipping, so I sent him 30 USD. In the next email he told me he thinks the head I have could play better with time, so I decided not to replace head which could just need some playing to sound good, and we agreed he will send me something instead of the head, so he won't have to send the money back (I thought it could be guataca or simply anything else). He never sent anything though, and didn't reply to the email I remembered him about that.

I was thinking about getting Isla requinto, but after all those stories here on CP and my own experience, I'm not going to sent Mario any more money in advance. I still think he's actually nice guy who just isn't able to care of his bussiness properly (I know that kind of people)...

If sound is what is important, I have been very satisfied with my set. Finish was below expectations. Mine were a part of that last batch Mario made before relocating. Liked the skins, although the rims were set too high for my primitive playing style. Really not too much to complain about.

Thanks for doing the survey. Sure would be great if the makers of drums such as SOS, Ritmo, Isla, etc would invest in some better (or any) websites. Show extensive photos of their drums, maybe some sound samples, and a spot for comments. Their drums make percussion a lot richer experience.

Pcastag,

I have not voted as I do not own a set of Islas, but how do I get a peek at how the voting is going, I might want to buy a set in the future?
