Congalou,

Very cool work!

What kind of wood is this? (Mahogany?)

Any ideas on what type of conga this is? I have 2 old tack heads that need to be restored that have been previously updated with hardware resembling the crown in your picture.

What kind of glue are you using?

I like the use of solid insulated wire to keep the strapping from slipping. I used 4 pieces of solid insulated wire last night to hold straps in place for a few glue jobs last night. I use "Titebond Polyurethane Glue"; this glue has epoxy-like strength and a 20-30 minute working time without the odor of epoxy.

Regards,

Jerry

Hey Jerry !

Mahogany ! what we call "Acajou" in France.

I have no idea about the type of conga, I only know that he come from Cuba.

About the glue, I use usual vynil white glue for wood workers, it works. Titebond is a very good glue, for shure.

GL.
