Helped a student move over the weekend, some stuff went into storage, but he asked if it was cool to leave his drums at my place.
Took some shots, the LP Eddie Montalvo series are his, along with 2 of the 3 Uruguayan Candombe 'tamboriles' and the little Mein Headliners. The Piano (largest of 3) and the Repique are his, the Chico is mine, an earlier present from him.

The Piano is huge, its sound is massive. I tuned it and have been using it as a mega super tumba. Here are some pics...

Very nice lookin' Candombe drums. Double alma is great. Are these real light and made of pine or fir? Are the heads real thin?

I have a repique that is not of this quality that is pine, thin (mule?) head, single alma at the top and a very thin crown that needs to be tuned carefully so it will not bend. I am thinking of replacing the head with a thin cow (but a little thicker than the original.

They are very light in comparison to tumbadoras, however the Piano can get heavy real quick!
They are made of Brazilian Pine. The skins are very thin on the Repique & Chico. The Piano has a thicker skin on it though.
All 3 can certainly take the punishment though and are veterans of many past "llamadas" / Candombe drumming events.
