Just to share my ideas on what to do to extend the sound palette of the congas with other persussion instuments.

In one band that plays music from various genres I've been asked to play cowbell/jamblock on "latin" tunes over the band solo sections.
Because I don't wan't to just let go of the congas and play the bell I created this kind of setup:
Cowbell mounted on the "mic stand adapter" of the LP classic conga. A drumstick attached to the bell with tape so it can be played without holding the stick.

The downside of course is that there are only 2 sounds: "open" and "muted". The upside is that it's very light to carry and it's always available when playing the congas.
On the tumba "mic stand adapter" I have a jamblock and on the tumba body a drumstick holder made out of gaffer tape and a sheet of paper.

I also have a bigger jamblock mounted on left foot pedal. I'm considering adding a foot cabasa for the right foot.

In this part of the world if a band has a "percussionist" he/she is expected to play any possible percussion instrument at any time.
On the other hand I want to keep my kit to minumum weight and space, so no extra free standing stands for me.
