'Maxtone' congas? Info?

Im not familiar with the brand at all, can anyone shed some light?

11" & 12.5" up for sale cheap on local ebay... Was thinking for a student of mine, are they any good? I just never heard of them before...

I have heard of them before but never played them.
They look kind of of old school and cool.

I think they're most likely perfect for a student – they are not crap, neither are they top line.
Great congas to develop technique and study with, then upgrade later.
I can see the skins have a reasonable thickness too.

Go for it I reckon.

Yeh, they certainly look strong enough, look like good hardware, lose the shitty legs and might be worth it...

If I remember correctly maxtone was a division of Pearl, so probably japanese made congas, usually a step above the Mexican drums.

Not bad looking drums. One thing is for sure, they’ve obviously withstood the test of time, the hardware looks hefty and not abused, the shells look clean, id say go for it. :mrgreen:
