Just received my L&H skin for an older quinto I found on craigslist. I have some information from L&H on the procedure, but wondering if anyone has personal experience, tips on mounting to share. Getting the skin wet is never mentioned, it is a thinner steer/cow skin per L&H recommendation after seeing the drum. Hope to hear from you! Thanks a bunch.

I am going to have to re-sking an LP Matador tumba I have. It has its original pre-mounted skin from LP with a comfort curve rim.
I do not have a flesh hoop/ring for it, it must be inside the pre-mounted skin, does anyone know where I can purchase one? Or how to extract it form the old skin?

just soak the skin and when it's soft pull out the flesh hoop.

One more tip I learned about drying the skin from an old time cuban in Chicago, once you have the head set turn the drum upside down and set the wet head on a plastic bag over night, this will allow the doubled part inside the flesh hoop to dry first, it's usually the last part to dry and will often pull on the skin as drying. Once it's sat overnight you can turn the drum back over and let it dry on its own. make sure to check or finger tightness on the lugs as the skin drys.
