Theres a good amount of Bomba makers both in the states and in PR (Jesus Cepeda, Del Valle, Ricky Soler) but I find it quite fulfilling when you make your own. of course a Skin on Skin Bomba drum is never a bad thing!

I'm sure it's cool to make your own, but for people like me (who have no idea what I'm doing) where can you get a bomba drum outside of Puerto Rico? I've looked all over the web but haven't found any results. Even the big-name percussion manufacturers like LP, Pearl, Toca etc. don't make them.

Does any memeber here know the name, or contact information of artisan made, bomba and plenera maker from Chicago, that used lp hardware for his bomba drums?

That maker posted a bomba barril about 2 years ago in olive green color, metal bands, lp hardware, and a Boricua sun sticker on the dru, did any one see it?....he had the drums for a very affordable price, and they looked really sturdy.

He also had a all hand made plenara/quinto for $140 , nice different tones of wood staves, professionally made, and affordable.

I am trying to get a hold of him, to order some bomba drums, in the future, he has great prices, and is fast at putting them together...
cool, young person, that makes great drums, has a bomba group in Chicago, and usually use to sell his drums on Ebay.

The only thing with the barriles is that he didn't make his own crowns, hardware, he would adapt lp hardware, which looked fine.

If any one here has purchase drums from him, or knows his name, and contact info i will apriciate if you could facilitate it.

BUT i am not talking about him...i am looking from a maker that is in Chicago, he is younger then Pedro, and uses the crown rims, and plates from lp, but oes a nice job on the barriles.

I am not interested in Pedros drums now, they are too costly for my budget,and i dont like the style.

The maker i am looking for in cHICAGO, DOES CLEANER WORK.

Pedro Barriera is not a bomba drum artisan. That was his drums but he doesnt made them. Here we got good artisans...to name a few: Papo del Valle, Ricky Soler, Victor "Sorpresa" Velez, Ivan Davila. If you need to contact any of them just let me know and I will get you the phone number.

Guy from Brooklyn is Victor Sorpresa's brother, Papo. He's my good friend and makes the best panderetas in NYC. He also sells on Ebay from time to time.
