Hey guys,

Do somebody ever seen and try congas in ACACIA wood ?, Experience about sound, stability ?

I have few bloks of this wood, drying in the barn since 20 years.... The wood is pretty nice... Too bad to put that on the chimney....

I will try to make a réquinto first, I wish it will be OK for congas making.

Congalou!

Your enthusiasm is beyond everything. After a long time here, i see your productive energy is boosting all over. If i was you i would check some web pages on wood consistency. I believe the acacia wood is soft, don' know... i take it back, its hard wood. Bring it on! Let us posted plz!
Enjoy creating and setting new limits!

Beautiful workmanship on that shell.
The wood grain pattern of the acacia is very similar to quartersawn oak.

I'd like to see some pics of your steam bending process.

Well done! 8)

Hey guys !!

King Conga, Joseph, it's steam bending (You can see a straight stave behind the drum on one photo).
I have working with a barrel Maker who have efficients tools for that work. I will try to make a vidéo one day, but I think that you can see on the web if you search "barrel making".

Joseph, you're rignt, It looks like kind of Oak ! Very nice !

Very nice logo design, however, the conga on the logo does not show the hardware
Did you intend to do this
I would love to have one of your drums, maybe I can commission you to build me a requinto, what do you say?

Thanks King !!

Yes, I intended to this, I want something very simple.

It could be a pleasure for me to build you a drum, but, send something from France to USA is very expensive and problematic because the wood, the skin.
I don't think it's a good deal...
