I have been playing bongos for some time now but started playing congas recently, I am trying to learn the differences between rims, like would a matador 11" fit a 11" caliente or classic shell?
Please enlighten me, I want to learn everything about congas and I think this is the best place for that.
Thanks

Matador will fit the Classic, not sure about the Caliente. Best thing to do is take the crown with you down to the store and try it on. Thats if you dont know anyone with said drum...

Thanks abakua, the reason is that I have a couple of caliente shells that I refinished, the hardware is good except for the hoops or rims.
I already know the Aspire ones will fit but I don't like to use those, I am looking for better quality, these calientes are 11" & 12" I got them really cheap and I think they will do good as my first set.
I like to get better heads also.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply......

Many 11" rims (I mean rims for 11" quintos) are interchangeable WITHIN one brand.
I have made this experience with LP and Meinl at least.
As soon as it gets to 11.75 and 12.5" sizes, other rims do most likely not fit.

Thanks mike, for the 12" caliente the only one I can find in that size is for the aspire and I dont want to use that.
Are there any heads in these sizes that are not aspire? the reason I am asking is because I have searched the forum and can't find any info on this specifically, plus I been playing bongos and never got interested in congas until recently.
