Hey, does anyone know why these drums are being offered at such a huge discount? It does not make sense unless they are incredibly cheap or not good drums. Would love to hear peoples personal experience with them or thoughts about it. Thanks!

Mr Rumba-
I purchased a set of these last November. They were even a better deal back then. I paid $235 for the 11" and 12" and then sprang for the 10" quinto at $99. So, $324 for all three. I'm pretty new to the game, so I don't have much first hand knowledge as what to compare them to. I know that I don't like them as much as my 11-3/4" Matador. My only beef with them so far is that I seem to be tightening the heads a lot. But, it's been pretty humid in NC lately.
We discussed these a while back and I put up some pics. Here:

I got several Gon Bop new Mariano series congas for an incredible price from Amazon. They listed at $800-$900 but Amazon was selling them for like $250-280 depending upon size. However checking the normal sale prices from other outlets the real price was $420-460.

I think the manufactures list price is always high but the actual purchase price is indeed lower, but every once in a while Amazon has sales to lower their stock and clear their books for their quarterly taxes--or something. If you like the congas, this is a great time to get them. I was real happy with my purchase.

Looks like a variation on the cheap and cheerful Aspires. Your choice, but I would pass and look for a more substantial entry level such as LP Matadors or Meinl Luis Conte.
