After and before photos of them.

Tremendas Timbas, Tumba Tumbador! I like the fact you basically left them in their original condition, like they were meant to be. Priceless!

Gracias hermano. I wouldn't alter anything that the great artisan Ismael Ramos de Bayamon created.

Dario,

Looks like the one on the left has a fatter belly than the one on the right, "esta bien pipona".

The one on the left "es el macho", measuring 11.25" head diameter. It has a huge belly (bien pipona), it doesn't fit on any of my conga bags. The hembra is a bit over 12" and it fits in my conga bags (tight fit). The macho's belly is much bigger. They are incredible sounding timbas, ol' skool, bien barrigonas. You can tell they are made by a Caribbean artisan (hechas a mano). You have to place the crowns very precise on top of the side plates, if not the lugs will come out twisted. There was nothing of mass production in Ismael's workshop (taller), each piece was a unique creation, there are similarities but not uniformity. These are the signs of artisans that work with their hands and don't depend on technology (machines). Ismael instruments make Puerto Rico proud.
Enclosed find a photo of another pair of Ismaels I had, these were Caoba. The ones now (below) are oak (roble).

Saludos.

Hey Dario.... the sooner the better on that Mule skin for the Hembra. That synthetic skin just does not do that drum any justice whatsoever. Kinda like having a 1938 rolls royce with Mags.

You are correct, but for now the synthetic head sounds real good on it. If I crank it up a bit I could use it as a macho and play tumbao on it. Getting harder to get mule lately.

Tucked Fiberskyn not Nuskyn. It sounds really good and if I crank it a bit I can play a solid tumbao on it.

Saludos.
