Here is a 70' quinto Delaporte (From France) 7 lugs.

12 re-gluing, new varnish and a new skin.

With cork on the bottom to make it smaller, it's a try, I will see the result if it's interesting or not.

I have one similar to that! :P

Congalou, what type of wood is it?

And maybe I am dumb, but I did not understand the bit with the cork.
You shortened the conga, OK. But why did you glue the cork on the bottom inside?
Could you explain that to me please? Merci :)

Otherwise: Awesome skills as always!

I don't think he shortened the conga, it looks like the cork is in the interior of the bottom to make the diameter smaller.

Bongo, you're right, I have just make the diameter smaler for have a little bit more "compression" (kind of "djembe effect").

About the wood, I don't know exactly. Shure it's African wood, samba maybe, but I'm not shure.

I see. It just looked as if you shortened the conga in photo #4 of your second post because the
wood at the bottom seemed freshly and a bit roughly sawn, at least I thought so, as the bottom
did not have the rubber bottom (may Michel Delaporte did not use them in the 1970s yet)

And please tell us what effect on the sound the cork has, if any.

The owner cut it long time ago (around 1 inch tall) but lost a lot of sound because of that. That's what I'm triying to repair.

I will keep you informed if it works.

So ! This drum sounds amazing !!! One of the best soundind drum I have played.

But honnestly, I don't know if it's due to the cork on the bottom. The guy can't tell me if it's better now compared to before. The super sound is due to the complete regluing, the new skin and MAYBE A LITTLE BIT to the cork..
