Gotcha.y did you change them out in the first place? Why not buy a standard LP pre-tucked buffalo if that is the sound you like? Easy to find, not too expensive. I get the buffalo sound, definitely dry open tones with bright slaps, kind of between a goat and cow. Dig it.

Just a side note..Jaisen torres (here on forum) has some very serious skins at reasonable prices. I have dealt with every possible skin including camel and I find that the mule Jaisen has and Steer is the best for the sound you are trying to get. Not only that, but they feel much better on your hands. They are way more consitent then buffalo. I have sanded down every buffalo skin i have had to make them smooth. Manito Percussion also has excellent natural Steer.
