Flax (linen) congas

After the fiberglass, I will try this summer congas with linen. Solid fiber, clean stuff, good acoustic, I think it will be good.

Linoleum? What will you be using as a binder?

Not linoleum but linen (flax), the tissu from the plant Linum usitatissimum.

Looking good, I think I have seen a photo of an LP
prototype blue denim conga. Your flax conga kind
of give you a wood grain effect. Love it!

Those are looking good for sure congalou. will you be re-enforcing the tuning lug area on the Inside? I have noticed with different fiber drums that they tend to "Buckle" in in that area because of the tuning stress. By the way, what size is the Tumba?
Cheers.

Hey King !

Tumba is 12 1/2"

No, I will not because the epoxy resin is sooo strong. I don't need.

Yep I have seen old fiber drums buckle. Each time it was because of old polyester resin (less strong compared to epoxy) and too thin shells. I think to first patato, first meinl congas.

Old resin grow old very badly, I think it's "osmosis" problem, a lot of boats have this kind of bad stuff.
