Galaxy Bongos Dark Wood

I just picked up these LP Galaxy Bongos from Adaptatrap Percussion in Brighton (UK). An impulse buy but wondering if anyone on here can tell me more about them? They are a darker wood than the similar model LP make today but not sure what wood it is or what date they were made.

Those are probably the older galaxys made (pre-giovanni) that were constructed out of oak rather than ash.

My bongos show their birthdate under the bottom rims. You will have to remove them. Note the date is written in form DDMMYY.
