My meinl woodcraft family

Postby godskin » Wed Apr 08, 2015 7:27 pm

Last year I bought 2 woodcraft's, a quinto and a conga.
I reskinned them and was happy with them.
I always wanted to complete the set with a tumba but these tubs dont show upp so often.

Last sunday I drove to Germany and bought a set of 3.
Back home I realised I was not so focussed because in reality I bought 2 conga's and a tumba.
Hmmm, well at least I got the tumba I was looking for.

Also on friday I bought a first generation woodcraft conga.
It looked like it was neglected a lot but the price was inresisteble.
This conga arrived today, besides rust and chrome flaking the off, the tub itself is een good shape.

So now the family has grown from 2 to 6 of them.

There are some things to tell about these woodies but I will start with some family pictures.

starring from left to right.

conga (first gen), conga (first gen) quinto (second gen), conga (second gen), conga(first gen) , tumba (first gen)

Viva woodcraft !!

Very nice!!
I currently have 4 which took me over 15 years to find. I have recently found another 12.5" across the country from me, I expect to take delivery of it sometime in the next week or so.

Here are 4 out my 5.

Seems fitting to have 5 vintage Woodcrafts, to match my 5 new school Woodcrafts!!

The latest generation Woodcrafts are fine drums for sure.
However, there is nothing like the old ones in my opinion. 8)

The new Woodcrafts are the top of the line in the pro series from Meinl. They are Meinls flagship drums.
I have 5 of them in the Mahogany Burst finish as part of my endorsement. I also have 5 of the old school Woodcrafts.
I love them equally. 8) But favour the old school ones for their vintage nature.
The new Woodcrafts are awesome drums straight out of the box. Cant go wrong.
