I have been living in Austin, Texas for three months now. I am in search of a advanced/professional level conguero in the area to take lessons from. I have been playing for 13+ years, but I have never studied under anyone in particular. I would like to have a few sessions under someone that can bust my chops a little and give new inspiration for practice and playing. If you know or are that person, please give a response. Thanks.
Take care, be good, and spread some around.

Welcome to Austin! You might try contacting Eric Danenbaum (http://www.ethnocool.com/). He teaches authentic Cuban and Haitian rhythms for ensembles where each person plays a single drum. Things like Bembe, Rumba Guaguanco, and Iyesa. This may not be what you have in mind. However, he could point you in the direction of a more salsa-oriented instructor. You could also enquire at Tommy's drum shop.
