Thanks J.C.
Yonge St is still the same. Theres a pretty good percussion store called Soul Drums on Yonge, they plan trips to Cuba every April for a week long workshop. I've just started playing a couple of months ago, and am taking lessons from a Cuban player here.

Marcus studied in NYC for many years with the late great Frankie Malabe,
Conguero for Charlie Palmieri and also Salsa legend - Hector Lavoe.
He can get you started in the right way without developing bad
habits that could lead to potential nerve damage in your hands.
It's very important to get in-person, vs. on-line or on a video.
The teacher must be able to see you too!

I think Israel Berriel "Toto", formerly of los Muñequitos de Matanzas, and son of Israel Berriel Gonzalez who is currently with los Muñequitos, lives in Toronto. I have seen him play and sing and he is really good. I am not sure if he is in town or is currently on the Canadian tour of los Muñequitos. I have not seen him teach, but if he can teach anything like he sings or plays, you will learn the real deal.
