Sandy Perez - Afro-Cuban Percussion Workshop

‘Sandy’ Ramon Perez formerly of the Cuban percussion group Afro Cuba De Matanzas will be holding an ongoing percussion workshop featuring folkloric Cuban rhythms at the African American Art and Cultural Center in San Francisco.

Location: 762 Fulton Street, dance studio “B”, San Francisco

Time: 8:00-10:00 p.m. Thursdays

Price: $20.00

Description: Students will learn authentic Afro-Cuban folkloric rhythms for conga drums. Some rhythms to be explored will include, guaguanco, palo
bembe, abakua, arara, rumba columbia and others.

Students will be required to bring their own conga drum to the class.
Parking is available in the center’s parking lot.

Ramon "Sandy" Garcia Perez, a master Batalero / Congero, and principal/lead percussionist for 12 years with Grupo Afro de Matanzas, is recognized the world over for his expertise as a percussionist and instructor. Sandy Perez, who is a direct descendant from the legendary Villamil family, brings a wealth of knowledge while continuing the legacy of Afro-Cuban folklore from the cradle of African Culture in Cuba - Matanzas.

Hello Everyone,
Sandy Perez's class will resume in San Fransico. The day and the location have changed,
but the time is the same.
The location is the Ella Hill Hutch Center 1050 Mcallister St San Francisco, the day is Wednesday and the time is 8-10 p.m.
Otherwise the class remains the same. Bring a drum, parking is provided and the class resumes this Wednesday January 21st.

So, with the second venue not working out, we are setting up a group lesson in SF, location to be determined. Wednesday nights.

All who are interested in studying with Sandy in SF, feel free to email me to be informed about future details.

As soon as we have a group of 8-10 interested players, he will start the classes again.
