he[/URL] takes a timbale solo on a MERENGUE!...I have never ever seen anyone do that in a Merengue, and as u know I have been around for awhile now...so chek out this incredible player ...."JC" Johnny Conga.....

Carlos "Patato" Valdes son of Chango has passed away today on Chango's Birthday.....he was 80 years old, but nobody really knows how old he really was.. I knew him and worked with him in Miami....he has left a legacy for all of us to remember.....""Patato" Dios te Bendiga!. . . .Johnny Conga

I was blessed to see Patato play live in a few different groups since living in NYC. A true master and legend who will be truly missed, a pioneer in conga playing, one of the "bridge" legends, connecting the past with the present. Beautiful melodies came from his tumbas.
