I just heard that percussionist Cándido Camero passed away last week, aged 99.

I was hoping he would make it to the 100. As a musician, he could not have accomplished more than he did. No doubt he will rest in peace.

Influenced me more than any other. When I started, as a kid on street corners in NYC, I taped up all my fingers to model him. RIP my main man.

Agree. A musical innovator and perhaps even more importantly by most accounts, a great person. I'll personally miss his absence. On the upside, he was able to play a very long time doing what he obviously loved.
