Gon Bops Tumbao Bongos

Has anyone played these and can comment? They were only $80 dollars at a store near me and I did a side by side comparison with a $250 LP model. Sounds are very similiar and construction seems excellent. I'm a little hesitant about the extremely low price. Are these good for the long haul?

Thanks.

Acopalis,
hope all is well!! so am i about the price. Gon Bops are very expensive. why don't you enter the Gon Bops web site and compare. see if they can help you. if the bongos are legit.. go for it, but make sure and check. we live in hard times if you know what i mean?? my best, franc :)

Apoca,Franc is right. I just enter the Gon Bops web page. The only thing I see is that the hembra is only 8" in diameter while most profesional Bongos are 8.5",8 5/8" and the less common 9". Like I always said ,if you are serious about becoming a player, buy yourself a high quality profesional Bongó from start, that way you will not waste money trying to make a beginner set to sound like a pro.Look at Bongomania.com,they sell timba,The drumsworks.com,they sell the Gonbops and others brands like Mountain Rhytm,Model San Juan ASH,Lp ect.

The tumbao series are made in thailand. 80.00 seems really cheap. They're probably the same quality as a set of matadors, mid-line semi-pro type series. The california series are hand-made in California and are much more expensinve than the tumbao series.
