Bongo head for Aspire macho

Postby CongaTick » Fri Apr 10, 2009 8:25 pm

Okay, from the outset I know the word Aspire raises hackles, but bear with me, since for now, that's what I have. Not being a bongocero, this set is sufficient for me. So here's the question: Would like to replace their stock heads with Fiberskyn heads (S series), but don't know if they are designed to fit the Aspire Comfort Curve rims. Anybody? (Okay, you can stop gagging now, guys.)

hey congatick

i dont know exactly, but if those weatherking fiberskynheads dont fit the aspires i wonder what drums they should be designed for.
you can ask remo customer service per email. sometimes takes one or two weeks to get an answer.
personally, i would not mount anything but fiberskyn tucked, because the weatherking system does not promise a lot of durability. but afaik tucked is not available in the needed size.
why not put calfskin or thin cow on it? 1mm will do for aspires, not to put too much strain on the hooks.

anyway, if you do mount weatherking fiberskynheads, it would be nice to get some feedback about the results.

greetings

Thanks for the reply and advice zwar. I decided to go with Nuskyns instead, which I 'm sure have their fans as well as detractors. The product info claims they are designed for the Aspires as well as a bunch of other bongo brands with curved rims. I know Nuskyns (as well as all synth heads) have fans and detractors, however, for my pruposes, I do belive these should work just fine for me and when mounted properly will cut through nicely within the music I play.
