BONGOS 4 SALE MANOLITO Y SU TRABUCO

Postby Omelenko1 » Wed Jan 05, 2011 7:42 pm

Manolito y Su Trabuco came to Miami and they did the Alexis Valdes show and a couple of gigs in a Calle 8 club. My friend knew the bongocero and call me to see if I had an LP fiberglass bongo'. I had a 35th Aniversary that sounded great but was very heavy. Cuban percussionist want what they don't have (LP). I traded the LP 35th for this beautiful set. I don't know if its Cuban, is got Cuban crowns and bottoms. The wood is the most beautiful. I know is not SONOC. It could be from Colombia or Venezuela, as Manolito goes to Cali and Caracas a lot, or it could be Cuban. It sounds awesome, is a big size bongo', macho 7", hembra 8 5/8", well suited for a big band with horns and electronics. I have to thin out a bit in the bongo' department. I will let this beauty go for $350. Coming to the forum first before any other media of advertising. If interested drop me a PM.

Saludos Dario, oh! yeah that is a beautiful piece, Looks Colombian to me. The crowns look like the ones on El Piernas Type Bongos. By the way it looks,I bet he should have a terrific sound. :D

Que bola acere, side track here, but out of curiosity, who was the bongocero? As I know El Trabuco do not use a bongocero? I wouldve seen el Trabuco about 20 times during my stay in Cuba, they never used a bongocero...
Maybe there was extra money up for grabs and they decided to take one? Strange cause all the arreglos etc is for kit/timbal in one who also plays the bell, and tumbadoras.
On the recordings however, you hear bongo, Roicel Riveron (kit/timbal) records the bongo & cencerro part.
Curious to know who they wouldve taken to Miami.

Best of luck with the sale, they look great. 8)

The timbalero/drummer plays bongo' on some traditional tunes. He is a friend of " el Sacerdote de la Rumba", who is my friend. He expressed a desire for a fibeglass LP bongo to take back. El Sacerdote called me and that's how it went. I put new heads on it. It's got a real big sound like Piernas or Junior Tirado's, the wood is beautiful, resembling zebra wood, very exotic.
