Steal of the season

Saludos, just got this Afro Bongó from ebay (7.25" x 9" unknown wood 3/4 thick) for only $61.00 :D . He has a broken crown where some rivets were loose so Timbas del Valle was up to repair it. He replaced all 8 rivets and also painted the crown. So, I have use it to rehearsal and is on schedule to gig this next sunday at El Barril D' Jun ( Juns Barrel) where I ll" be playing with an 8 piece conjunto. Thus far it has a very deep Hembra sound with an overall excellent volume projection and only have spend all together $105. Both skins were available in my bag of spares.

I had a set of those once upon a time. I recall they were ok. I sold them to a friend for about the same price I think... maybe a bit less. The hembra did split where the bolt attached the wood block so watch for that, but an easy glue job.

Nice find. I never put decent skins on them so I never really found out their true potential.
