what is the significance of the SOS bongo not having a 'manufacturer signature'?

I think that all the SOS drums I have are signed inside. Is this not something Jay always did or would it not be present because the drums were refinished or something?

450 and climbing - good to see!

Just took a look at Ebay - the SOS sold for $947!

Don't know what to say about that!

Well, I can say that I have a collection of very great classic and historic bongos but for the past few years my favorite is an SOS. But, if someone offered me $947 for it I'd let it go. But, I would miss it!

You're joking right??

that's insane.... last time I looked it was 495 with a bit over an hour left.

I have a oh so sweet sounding walnut set that cost me close to 600 with shipping and everything. perhaps they've appreciated lol... I'm gunna keep em.
