choosing bongo skin

Ok now that I have found a skin I need to aquire another ring so I can keep the original pre-mount intact as a spare (I think this is the best way????).

I have LP Matadors & xs200 fiberglass,checked the LP website but couldn't find the parts section.

Any suggestions? Or will I be able to remove the old rings and still be able to re-use the original heads if I wish?

Don't try to remove the rings if you want to save the skin. Get new ones. You can find directions on making your own by searching around. There is a place on the US West coast you can try - http://www.latinrhythmtraders.com/ - or order direct from LP. The hembra hoop is LP 254A-2 and the macho LP 254A-1.
